We just put out a whole bunch of new movies so come on in and Check Them Out! I'm going to highlight a couple more today. You may notice the critic rating meter I'm placing after each review. This is a composite rating generated by the Movie Review Query Engine (MRQE). "Lake of Fire" is a documentary look at the abortion issue directed by Tony Kaye. He directed "American History X" and it took him 15 years to make this. Shot entirely in black and white it is supposed to be an insightful look at the issue from all sides.

Next is "Howards End". It's a Merchant Ivory period piece starring Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins based on the E.M Forster book. I'm highlighting this because the library just recieved three other E.M Forster based movies, "Where Angels Fear To Tread", "A Room With a View", and "A Passage to India". All are special two disc sets with lots of supplemental goodies for fans of these films to watch. These are well acted, beautifully shot, heartwrenching films that are great to watch at home.

Check It Out!
Movies today. Here are some new ones that will be hitting the shelves next week. As always please comment, offer a review or make suggestions.
First up, “The Cove”. This won the Academy Award for Best Documentary this year.
From the summary:
“In a sleepy lagoon off the coast of Japan is a highly guarded secret. During the night, Taiji fishermen engage in an unseen hunt for thousands of dolphins. The work is so horrifying, the fishermen will stop at nothing to keep it hidden from the outside world. When a team of elite activists, filmmakers, and free-divers embark on a secret mission to penetrate their cover, the shocking discoveries they find there are just the tip of the iceberg.”

Next we have “Ballast”. Big time award winner at Sundance 2008. The cinematography is supposed to be especially noteworthy.
